FORT WORTH, Texas _ Faced with a lawsuit challenging its use of genetic tests on employees, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway of Fort Worth said Monday it was stopping the tests.

BNSF was sued Friday in federal court in Sioux City, Iowa, because it had begun to ask employees who filed claims for carpal tunnel syndrome to submit to genetic tests.

The railroad said that 20 BNSF employees were tested beginning last March and that several other refused to take the tests. The tested employees worked for the railroad in Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa.
