Feb. 21--The Grand Forks County Commission unanimously, except for the absence of Commissioner Robert Wood, approved a special use permit for Tom Brule to dump sugar beet pulp and tailings on land in Ferry Township.
The special use permit allows Brule to apply sugar beet tailings and pulp -- byproducts from the processing of sugar beets -- not to exceed 100 tons per acre on 140 acres located north of Grand Forks. Brule has a contract with American Crystal Sugar Co. to remove the byproducts from the plant.
