Feb. 21--PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.--Charlotte County is first in Florida and second in the nation to set a date for the 21st Century Challenge.
The local 21st Century Challenge, an initiative of Habitat For Humanity, has a deadline for the year 2020. While Habitat is a builder of new homes for needy people, the 21st Century Challenge group tackles the problem of substandard housing in Charlotte County.
A luncheon Tuesday at the Best Western in Punta Gorda offered members of the community an introduction to the 21st Century Challenge.
