RealNetworks of Seattle has teamed up with Wal-Mart to stream audio clips online at www.walmart.com, part of the retailer's effort to bolster CD sales from its Web site. Walmart.com shoppers can listen to 30-second snippets of every song on every CD in the company's music collection, a total of more than 1 million tracks, RealNetworks said.
Before the partnership, Walmart.com did not offer any music samples, a RealNetworks spokeswoman said. She also said that she thinks that Wal-Mart is the first Internet retailer to put such an extensive collection of song clips online.
