DALLAS_American Airlines Inc.'s flight attendants overwhelmingly voted to authorize their union to call a strike if negotiations to reach a new labor contract fail to produce an agreement.
The strike ballot results, announced Thursday by the Association of Professional Flight Attendants, show the union has garnered widespread support among its 23,000 members as it heads back into talks with the airline's negotiating team late next week. Of the 17,326 valid ballots cast, 96 percent or 16,553 flight attendants voted in favor of a strike.
