FORT WORTH, Texas--Employers face too many potential liabilities to follow the pioneering lead of The Burlington Northern & Santa Fe Railroad Co. in implementing genetic testing of employees who file work injury claims, defense attorneys say.
Employers say, though, that such tests could help them create safer work environments for their employees.
Fort Worth, Texas-based BNSF announced last week that it will end a genetic testing pilot program it implemented last March. The program included obtaining blood samples and examining the DNA of employees who filed claims for work-related carpal tunnel syndrome.
