PHOENIX_An ignored man in the A's clubhouse this spring has been pitcher Gil
Heredia, who is one of the team's potential free agents after the season.
Slated to be the team's No. 3 starter, Heredia is coming off a career year, going 15-11 with a 4.12 ERA in 2000. He came within 1 1/3 innings of a second consecutive 200-inning season.
Heredia said he would like to stay in Oakland and has spoken with his agent about initiating contract discussions.
