If you think I'm about to tell you that drinking alcohol increases osteoporosis, you're wrong. Several new studies indicated that moderate alcohol intake actually increases bone density. In a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, women who drank alcohol had denser bones than women who didn't drink. A French study of nearly 7,600 women had similar results.
Both of these studies were based on the amount of alcohol participants reported consuming, which isn't always accurate. People tend to minimize their intake, so we don't know how much alcohol might be safe or protective. These studies suggest that four or more glasses of ...
