ISLAMABAD, Feb 26 Asia Pulse - Pakistan will get a US$150 million loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), under the energy sector restructuring programme (ESRP) by December 2002.
According to an ADB source, the loan will be disbursed in terms of second and third tranches, each amounting to US$75 million of the total US$300 million loan under the ESRP, and will be released in December 2001 and 2002, respectively.
The long-term goal of the ADB's intervention is to ensure a self sustaining, efficient and competitive energy sector that can provide the required quantity and quality of energy supply at the least cost to the consumers, the sources said.
