Opportunity and danger: Hugh McColl will leave his successor, Kenneth Lewis, a fair amount of both when Mr. Lewis takes over as chief executive of Bank of America Corp. in late April.
The key opportunities Mr. Lewis will inherit are a strong asset management division, and a weak but improvable investment banking operation. The dangers are an eroding loan portfolio, sagging profits and a lack-luster stock price.
