Maina Gielgud was booted from the Australian Ballet after 14 years. She left the Royal Danish Ballet after two years, with a year left on her contract.

And she didn't last a day in Boston.

Gielgud, named artistic director designate of the Boston Ballet in September, will never officially hold the position. She instead will leave the company in what it yesterday termed "an amicable departure."
