Maina Gielgud was booted from the Australian Ballet after 14 years. She left the Royal Danish Ballet after two years, with a year left on her contract.
And she didn't last a day in Boston.
Gielgud, named artistic director designate of the Boston Ballet in September, will never officially hold the position. She instead will leave the company in what it yesterday termed "an amicable departure."
But the announcement follows by less than a week the significantly less amicable departure of a number of Boston Ballet dancers. Indeed, there were rumblings of a movement afoot among company dancers to have Gielgud ousted. But yesterday's announcement ...
