NEW YORK -- Much of the positive momentum in the topical analgesics category these days is coming from patch products, items that are winning increasing trial and acceptance from consumers.
The appeal of patch therapy, which was imported from eastern Asia, where it has long been popular, stems from two major benefits: the convenience of being able to apply an external pain reliever without staining clothing, plus being able to keep the analgesic on the painful area for several hours, even while the user pursues normal activities.
The segment at present is admittedly still small -- only about $10 million to $12 million, according to some observers. But ...
