Complex, rich tradition depicts leading disciple
In recent years there has been a great reclaiming of the figure of Mary Magdalene as a patron of women's preaching and ministry. The new popularity of this New Testament figure has come about through the recognition that Mary Magdalene has been the victim of a historical defamation of character.
