An Arlington Heights first was recorded last week.

Suzanne Starck became the first member of the village's new arts commission after winning unanimous confirmation from village trustees.

Her appointment gets the new nine-person panel off the ground, although village President Arlene Mulder must still fill eight more seats.

Once all members are in place, the arts commission will seek opportunities for public art in Arlington Heights, and funding to support it.
