I am one of the few people here at my office who keeps a typewriter on his desk. It's an old IBM Selectric II and it marks me for what I am _ a dinosaur who has always loved typewriters.
I don't write columns on it any more. Rather, I use it to address envelopes, fill out expense vouchers, type short notes and make noise to keep my nearby colleagues awake.
There may still be an old manual typewriter in service around the office here somewhere, but I no longer know where it might be. And it's the old manuals for which I really have a soft spot in my heart.
Which is why it hurt recently to read of the closing of yet another typewriter store. This ...
