The use of allogeneic peripheral blood stem-cells for transplantation significantly increased the rate of cell production, compared to bone marrow, according to results from a multi-centre study in the USA.
This suggests that disease-free survival may be significantly improved for patients.The results of what is billed as the largest multi-centre study ever are reported in the New England Journal of Medicine (18 January).
