PRIOR TO 1887 America did not have a national monthly hunting and fishing magazine. That year a fellow out in Denver, Colorado, by the name of Claude King took notice of this omission and in a typical American entrepreneurial move grasped the buck by both antlers and started one.
He called it SPORTS AFIELD, and it is still going strong today after surviving numerous owners and home office locations, editors with bright ideas, and loyal readers who may have, at times, felt a mite confused.
