Integrating Real-Time Chats into the Course Media Mix

Electronic communication is exploding on campuses. Although the use of asynchronous conferencing (e.g., e-mail) is especially widespread, there is less evidence of synchronous chatting (e.g., chat rooms) in connection with academic course work. In this article, I report on my use of integrated synchronous electronic office hours with asynchronous course conferencing in a class on introductory marketing.
