WHAT GIVES? Bass boats are fishing saltwater bays while center-console bay boats are plying freshwater lakes hundreds of miles inland. The term "traditional use" no longer applies to bass boats, boats, or center-console figs.
Growing similarities in boat designs and a broader outlook by fishermen are responsible for the term's demise. Some bass boats can be ordered with stainlesssteel hardware and corrosion-resistant wiring for saltwater use. Many center-console boats now offer easy front-deck trolling-motor mounting and have almost the storage capacity of bass boats.
