2001 FEB 19 - (NewsRx.com) -- People who live in fear of their peanut allergy might be excited to learn that they might outgrow it.
Those who have peanut allergies anxiously avoid numerous products, and they worry that accidental exposure could cause a severe or even fatal reaction.
"In our patient group, roughly 20% outgrew their peanut allergy," said Robert Wood, MD, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland, and lead investigator of the study. He cautions, however, that people should only be tested and re-evaluated under a doctor's care before abandoning preventive or avoidance measures.
