Mar. 3--Espiritu Canyon Road will stop its music once and for all Sunday when the popular east-side restaurant and nightclub will go out of business, thanks mainly to a party-pooping city zoning ordinance.
"It's been a lot of fun," said Tom Berkes, who owns Espiritu with songstress Jewel Sato. The couple opened the Canyon Road music spot more than two years ago.
"But a lot of the fun went out of it when the city beat us down on the music issue," Berkes said. "A big part of our heart and soul was the music. When we didn't have it, it wasn't quite as much fun."
