When I first caught the taste for the Etruscans -- a paper I wrote in highschool about Etruscan religion in Vergil did the trick -- the English book to know was Pallottino's The Etruscans. For some aspects of Etruscan culture that has remained the landmark book, with the 1978 English edition (ed. David Ridgway) becoming the standard. Emeline Richardson's The Etruscans: their Art and Civilization (Chicago 1964) took a different slant, particularly on questions of art; and Otto Brendel's Etruscan Art (Penguin 1978, 2nd edition, 1995), with ...
