Nearly two years after 12-year-old Cally Jo Larson was raped and killed in her home in Waseca, Minn., the man charged with the crime will go to court today to argue again that his original arrest for burglary should be thrown out.
The trial of Lorenzo Sanchez, 29, is scheduled to start March 27. The judge hasn't ruled on a defense motion to move the trial from Waseca.
The arrest issue is critical because if it was improper, evidence seized by authorities that led them to suspect Sanchez in Larson's death can't be used in the murder trial. The evidence includes two compact-disc containers identified by relatives as stolen from the Larson house.
