2001 FEB 23 - (NewsRx.com) -- Commonly prescribed heart failure drugs Known as angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors are often given at lower doses than recommended by leading cardiology associations.

A study of the ACE inhibitor lisinopril conducted by a researcher at San Francisco V.A. Medical Center (SFVAMC) and University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), shows that the vast majority of heart failure patients can safely tolerate higher doses, which have been proven to reduce death and hospitalizations significantly.
