The New York State Association of Counties announced that getting American Indian businesses to collect taxes on sales to non-Indians will be its top legislative priority in the coming session.
Meeting to discuss Indian casinos, land claim and taxation issues with federal officers, Indian law practitioners and state assembly members, the county lawmakers said they would push the state legislature for bills dealing with sale of cigarettes, motor fuel and other products sold on reservations to non-Indian customers, The Albany Times Union reported in December.
