Philip Morris, one of the biggest tobacco and foodstuff corporations in the world whose best-known and perhaps most lucrative product is the cigarette brand Marlboro, announced plans to move its international headquarters from its current location near New York (Ryebrook, New Jersey) to Lausanne. With the regional administrative offices for over 120 countries in Europe, Africa and Asia, Lausanne is already home to some 1,300 Philip Morris employees. Philip Morris employs 137,000 worldwide and there was no talk of corporate restructuring or subsequent job cuts.
