Northrop Grumman [NOC], working in conjunction with the Air Force Research Laboratory, has begun to develop a next-generation airborne unmanned reconnaissance system known as Sensor Craft, which could become operational in the 2015-2020 time frame, according to a company executive.
"Some of the system attributes that are required for Sensor Craft include being able to perform multiple missions using multiple sensors, and have global coverage," Robert Chapman, who manages the program for Northrop Grumman, told reporters during a video conference call.
