Was it a trip or good defense? That was the hot debate after Elk River's 3-1 victory over Eastview in the Class AA quarterfinals Thursday at Xcel Energy Center.
The play in question happened on a breakaway by Elk River's Trevor Stewart early in the third period. Eastview's Cody Blanshan was on Stewart's hip as they skated up the ice.
Blanshan knocked the puck away as he fell to the ice. Stewart tripped over Blanshan.
The officials called Blanshan for tripping, which gave Elk River a power-play opportunity at 2 minutes, 54 seconds of the third period.
