Epilepsy can be a difficult problem to deal with--for parents, other caregivers, the children themselves, and their brothers and sisters. This diagnosis raises many issues, including what caused the epilepsy--questions such as "why me" or" why my child"--problems with taking daily medications and the potential side effects, the fear of having seizures in front of one's classmates and friends, and limitation on activities. The issues vary depending upon the age of the child. For the young child not ready for school, the impact of the diagnosis is more often on the parents, other caregivers, and siblings.
