It was a disturbing scene that could have taken place in another time and another country: More than 100 angry people gathered outside a newspaper office, demanding an audience with the editors and insisting the paper doesn't have the right to control its own content.
What's even more unnerving is that this scene took place last week on the UW-Madison campus, where students who ought to know better were claiming the Badger Herald had no right to run an advertisement they found offensive, or to reject a reply.
Then again, on a campus where free speech is treated as secondary to multiculturism and a long list of "isms," it shouldn't be a surprise that some ...
