Mar. 14--WASHINGTON--With 1,500 jobs for Memphis hanging in the balance, a federal judge heard seven hours of argument Tuesday in a bid by Emery Worldwide Airlines to overturn the new seven-year contract of the U. S. Postal Service with FedEx Express.
She then indicated she would rule next week.
In January, the Postal Service awarded a $6.3 billion contract to FedEx to start sorting and carrying express mail out of the Memphis hub. The Postal Service did not seek other bids and said it would terminate its existing contracts with Emery and five ...
