PDV Continues Move on Caribbean Market, Targets Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico
In two moves, Venezuela has reinforced its assault on the Caribbean market.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has announced that state oil company Petroleos de Venezuela (PDV) is negotiating to build a refining complex in the Dominican Republic, while PDV's US-based subsidiary Citgo has said it will open 45 gasoline stations in Puerto Rico, with an ultimate aim of opening 300 stations and taking nearly 20% of the market there.
