Armstrong's curse continues. So does Elk River's quest for its first state championship.
The top-ranked Elks answered every Armstrong challenge with a clutch shot of their own Tuesday night and advanced to the semifinals of the Class 4A girls state basketball tournament with a 65-56 victory before 2,000 at Wayzata High School.
Elk River senior Kayla Christensen put the finishing touches on an entertaining and intense game with six free throws in the final minute.
