The local Al-Hassan Engineering is the clear low bidder for the Barka water transmission system, following the return of bids by 14 local and international contractors on 22 January. Al-Hassan's base bid of RO 15.5 million ($40.8 million) was 17 per cent cheaper than the next lowest offer, submitted by another local company, Bogest Trading. The client is the Ministry of Electricity & Water (MEED 13:10:00).
All the bidders priced the main offer, which comprised two options. Most also submitted a further two quotes under the alternative offer. In each case, Al-Hassan was the low bidder, offering quotes substantially below the original contract estimate of about $75 ...
