HM The Queen has appointed Professor Sir Colin Campbell to be the First Commissioner for Judicial Appointments. Sir Colin, who is the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nottingham, will take up his part-time appointment immediately.
A new Commission for Judicial Appointments, chaired by Sir Colin, will conduct a continuing, independent audit of the appointment procedures for judges, tribunal chairmen and Queen's Counsel.
