Mar. 18--Sad to say, but it looks like unhappy trails ahead for Golden Gate Park Stables.
The urban cowboys and cowgirls who regularly visit the venerable, more than century-old attraction for rides and lessons are guaranteed only that it will stay open until the end of September. After that, it's anybody's guess.
The stables' contractor told the city and its patrons recently that it's pulling out, ending an 11-year run. The well-worn establishment needs capital improvements -- a new hay barn, a residence and school building, among other projects -- which could ...
