MANNS HARBOR -- The lunch rush is coming at White's Store. The shipyard and bridge workers and retired folk will be heading over soon for cheeseburgers and chicken wings.
Only a few people labor behind the red countertop. Round, silver duct work snakes from an open ceiling.
Stuff is scattered around the store floor, but on the racks, shoppers can find anything from soda to starfish, fishing poles to flannel shirts.
On the front of the store, half of the sign that once read ``Welcome Inside, 10,999 Items to Choose From'' is gone. A hand-lettered sheet of legal paper advertises labrador puppies for ...
