The whole nation is plagued by the annual yellow sand phenomenon, as winds continue to cover the Korean peninsula with dust originating from the Gobi desert.
Korea yesterday witnessed this year's eighth yellow dust storm, nearly double the average of 4.7 times per season recorded in previous years.
Yesterday's dust reportedly contained particles big enough to be seen with the naked eye, leaving visibility at 7 kilometers.
``The frequent yellow sand phenomenon is attributable to the Chinese deserts, which are drier than usual this year,'' said, Hwang Joon-yon, an official of the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA).
