WHEN AMERICANS POP CORKS ON NEW YEAR'S EVE
NEW YORK, Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time this New Year's Eve, Americans will be popping the corks on more bottles of Spanish "methode champenoise" sparkling wine (known as "Cava") than French Champagne, according to Wines of Spain, a division of the Embassy of Spain Commercial Office in New York.
The latest import statistics for Jan. 1 - Sept. 30, 1988, reported by the National Association of Beverage Importers in Washington, show Spanish sparkling wine leading French Champagne and sparkling wine by nearly 300,000 gallons or more than ...
