WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A controversial proposal by the Farm Credit Administration (FCA), which would allow local farm credit associations to expand their traditional geographic territories under national charters, was the subject scheduled for a Feb. 26 Senate Agriculture Committee hearing.
The hearing was announced shortly after FCA published a proposed rule that would allow national charters for the first time.
The initiative for the national charters has been under consideration by FCA since 1998 as a measure that would help spread lending risks for local farm credit associations. FCA chairman and chief executive officer Michael Reyna testified last year ...
