The first free-standing children's hospital in the state of New Jersey opened yesterday, promising to be among the most advanced in the nation. More than 45 pediatric specialty services will be offered at the new $62 million, 160,000 square foot state-of-the-art building which features: 70 private rooms all with in-room sleeping for parents; Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and Emergency Department; Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with the lowest mortality rate in a national study; a Family Resource Center; Child Life Rooms and more.
