Wild coach Jacques Lemaire seemed, well, amused that he was fined $5,000 for his recent disparaging comments about NHL referee Brad Meier. Amused, but not all that surprised.
"The league had to take a side, and they took the side of their employee," Lemaire said. "And I'm not an employee."
Lemaire was fined for his public criticism of Meier after a game against Detroit on March 11. General manager Doug Risebrough also was fined $5,000.
Lemaire said Meier told him that he was going to "get back at" him for complaining about calls during a March 4 game at Vancouver.
