Mar. 22--The University of North Carolina and the town of Chapel Hill have been so interdependent for 207 years that, at times, the boundaries between the two seem to blur.
But these days, a great divide appears to be emerging.
As the university prepares for one of its largest growth spurts ever, some say there is a palpable tension between town and gown. Chancellor James Moeser, the new man on campus, has been a bit of a bully, they complain, and does not yet grasp "the Chapel Hill way" of doing things.
