GRAND JUNCTION -- A third death in two years involving children affiliated with a church that practices faith-healing may be building support for changes in state law.
A bill by state Rep. Kay Alexander, R-Montrose, proposes to eliminate the ``faith-healing exemption'' in criminal statutes, making it easier to prosecute parents who don't seek medical care when their children become ill.
The measure will be heard in the aftermath of the death of 13-year-old Amanda Bates, who died in a Denver hospital Tuesday of complications from diabetes.
