They did indeed plunder and pillage, perhaps giving them the reputation of being about as welcome as the devil. But horns? No, the Vikings did not wear horns.
Nevertheless, the sprawling, detailed and ambitious exhibition ``Vikings: The North Atlantic Saga'' confronts the pop culture misconception early in the game. ``Vikings,'' which opens today at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, begins with a dramatically mounted late 8th-century picture stone from Gotland Island, a map showing the Vikings' vast seafaring reach, and pages from Egil's Saga, circa 1400.
