A 37-foot catamaran called Ladybug is helping three Madison thirtysomethings fulfill the dream of a lifetime.
They have taken off of work for a couple of years to sail around the world.
Dave Hess, his wife Stacy Cohen and their friend "Torpedo Jo" Ries quit their jobs at the Marquip Corp. before the company filed for bankruptcy and closed its operations in Madison last year. The guys were engineers, and Cohen was a computer programmer.
About a year ago, they bought a well-designed but poorly equipped charter boat, while shopping for a seaworthy vessel on the British Virgin Islands.
