Physical testing is routinely performed on collegiate and professional football players. The most utilized physical ability test in football is the 40-yard dash. Most coaches have two individuals time their runners(hand-held) in the 40-yard dash. Electronic timing is the "gold standard" for timing; however, few coaches have the facilities and resources to electronically time their athletes.
