Recent trends in sport leadership research have focused on examining selected situational variables that may relate to leadership effectiveness. Blanchard's (1985) Situational Leadership II Theory stresses the importance of matching leadership style with the development and maturity levels of followers or subordinates. The purpose of this study was to test the basic tenets of the Situational Leadership II Model in two similar sport program field settings.
