TUCSON, ARIZ. -- Breaking into the branded, specialty egg market takes tremendous investment in research; positioning and promotion, but putting this together creates "a powerhouse" that can produce growth and profitability, according to three branded egg producers who addressed a marketing seminar at the annual meeting of the International Egg Commission here.
In the U.K., Freshlay Foods Ltd. was established in 1996 by egg packer Watkins & Son as an egg production company to produce and sell a branded egg named VitaEgg, which "we believe is one of the 'healthiest' eggs in the world," reported Rachel Watkins, director of Freshlay.
