MICHIGAN INVESTOR GROUP INITIATES TWO NEW MOVES ON DETROIT FREE PRESS

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich., May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The Michigan Investor Group, headed by Bloomfield Hills public relations executive Bill McMaster, has made two new moves in their campaign to purchase the Detroit Free Press.

Tuesday, James K. Batten, president and CEO of Knight-Ridder, Inc., which currently owns the Detroit Free Press, received the "SECOND REQUEST FOR 1987 AND 1988 FINANCIAL STATEMENTS OF THE DETROIT FREE PRESS" from the Michigan Investor Group.
